High Sierra Explorer starts in San Francisco, California where groups meet before traveling by van to the start of their backcountry hike through the Sierra Nevada. After eight days in the backcountry and two days of rafting on the American River, groups attempt to summit Mount Shasta. At trip end, groups van back to San Francisco for a celebratory final night and flights home.
